Summer is the most popular season for RV camping for good reason. Warm weather makes it that much easier to enjoy the outdoors. However, sometimes things can get a little too hot, and you’ll want a cool place to relax during the hottest part of the day. That is why Pete’s RV has created this guide to keeping your RV cool.

Use The Breeze In Your Favor

While moving your RV once it is in place can be a hassle, try to plan ahead so that your RV is oriented toward local wind patterns. Open your RV’s windows to let a breeze in, though make sure you have screens up to keep out any annoying pests.

Create Your Own Shade

When parking your RV, try to find some shade under a tree. If you have an awning, put it down. You can also make creative use of a tarp in order to create additional shade.

Optimize Your RV's Cooling System

Make sure that your RV’s cooling system is well-maintained. By simply cleaning the air filters from time to time, you can ensure optimal performance and help keep the interior of your camper cool.

Don't Forget About The Skylights

While many RV owners have caught on to the trick of covering their windows, some people forget to cover the skylight. Skylights can let in as much heat as any other window, so be sure to install an insulating cover on any skylights that your RV might have.

Check Your Camper's Fridge

Ironically, your RV’s fridge can be a big source of heat. Make sure that the fridge’s vents are clean to avoid excess heat build-up. Make checking the vents a part of your regular maintenance routine, and replace them as needed.

Turn Off Electronics

Electronic devices like televisions and laptops can also generate a lot of heat. Limit your screen time during the hottest parts of the day to help keep things cool.
